Gas Prices Hit 13-Year Lows

Tampa, Fla.-(Newsradio 970 WFLA)-It was a very good Independence Day for drivers as they found the lowest gasoline prices in more than a decade.

AAA says gas prices averaged $2.15 here in Florida.  That average was 9 cents less than a year ago and the lowest price for the holiday since 2004. The national average of $2.23 was the lowest for the holiday in 12 years.

AAA Tampa's Mark Jenkins says the lower gasoline prices may be coming to an end.  Jenkins says we're entering a 6 week period where demand is usually the strongest of the year. Jenkins also says oil wholesale prices made solid gains last week.

The auto club says the most expensive gas in Florida can be found for $2.26 in the West Palm-Boca Raton area. The least expensive gas will cost you $2.09 in the Tampa-St. Pete area.
