FHP: Unlicensed Drunk Driver Kills Another Man

Plant City, Fla. (970 WFLA) - A drunk driver who did not have a valid license struck and killed another man Monday afternoon, the Florida Highway Patrol said. Jorge Alberto Mejia Perez, 52, of Plant City ran a red light on Knights Griffin Road and into the path of Robert Eugene Shook's vehicle at about 4 p.m. Shook suffered fatal injuries in the crash.

After rescuers and an FHP trooper arrived, according to an FHP news release, Perez tried to run away. He faces charges including DUI Manslaughter, Leaving the Scene of a Crash Involving a Death, and Driving with No License Involving a Death.
