Wrong Way To Recycle Plastic Shopping Bags

Lakeland, Fla. (970 WFLA)-It's not how you're suppose to recycle your used plastic shopping bags.

Three Orlando men are accused of putting merchandise in used Belk department store plastic bags at the Belks on Town Center Drive in Lakeland. 

The stores loss prevention employee spotted the shoplifters, including one man who was wearing a dress, and called Lakeland PD.

Police  were waiting outside for the suspects, who dropped the bag,  jumped in their  getaway car, and took off.  Police stopped the car on George Jenkins Blvd.,  and arrested the three.   The bag contained over $2700 worth of merchandise.  

Arrested:·Driver - 24 years old, Renford Patterson of  Orlando. Charged with Grand Theft and Driving on a Suspended Driver’s License. Renford also has warrants out of Hardee and Orange Counties for Failure to Appear on a Suspended Driver's License and Felony Retail Theft. 

Front Passenger - 21 year old Archibald Green, of Orlando,  Charged with Grand Theft. Green has a warrant from Orange County for Grand Theft. 

Rear Passenger - 25 year old Kentavia Furlow, of  Orlando. Charged with Grand Theft.
