St. Petersburg, Fla.-(Newsradio 970 WFLA)-Police have arrested a man for breaking into twelve homes that were being tented with poison gas to kill termites. Police say 37 year-old David Cooper burglarized all the houses over the past five weeks.
Detectives say Cooper took rifles, a handgun, ammunition, jewelry, cash, electronics and even shoes from the houses he entered. Officers say Cooper was armed when he was arrested, but no shots were fired.
Cooper is facing a total of fifteen charges from armed residential burglary to being a felon in possession of a firearm. Investigators say Cooper had an outstanding warrant for his arrest in Hillsborough County for driving with a suspended or revoked license.
