Sudden Snatching Suspect Arrested

Largo, Fla. (970 WFLA)-The man who allegedly snatched a bank envelope of cash from an 81 year old man has been caught.

Pinellas Sheriff Detectives say a Crime Stopper tip led them to 29 year old Adam Garris who, according to the sheriff's report is a transient, staying in the Palm Harbor area.

Last month, the victim went to the bank and withdrew a large sum of cash,  he then met his wife at the Optical Outlet on East Bay Drive in Largo, where he sat down to wait for her to finish.  

According to detectives, Garris had followed the victim from the bank to the optical shop,  went inside and quickly plucked the money from the victims shirt pocket and ran. 

During questioning,  Garris confessed.  He's charged with one count of robbery, but thats not the only trouble he's in.  Garris  is  also facing several unrelated felony charges, including possession of methamphetamine, and grand theft, to name a few.    Additional charges are pending.
