Shooting in Wawa Parking Lot Sends Man to Hospital

Pinellas Park, Fla. (970 WFLA) - A fight in a convenience store parking lot sent a man to the hospital in critical condition with a gunshot wound Saturday night.

Pinellas Park Police say in a news release that the shooting happened in the parking lot of a Wawa store at 6200 34th St. North at about 10:42 p.m. where Ryan Dahill, 25, argued with with Ernest Russ, 26, before Russ pulled a gun and shot the Dahill.

According to a news release from Pinellas Park Police, Dahill was being disruptive inside the store and exchanged words with Russ. Then outside the store, they faced off again, where Dahill knocked Russ down with a sucker punch to the face. As Dahill stood over him, Russ pulled a gun and shot Dahill in the chest.

Someone drove Dahill away before police found him inside a vehicle at 54th Ave. and 34th St. He was taken to a local hospital, wher he is in critical but stable condition after surgery.

"Investigators believe that Dahill was the aggressor in this situation," the news release says. Charges could come "based on the final medical condition of Dahill and the outcome of the overall investigation."
