Pinellas Park Fla. (970 WFLA)- Pinellas Park Police have in custody the driver of a car they say was involved in a hit and run crash that killed a motorcyclist early Tuesday morning.
61 year old John Ryan was pronounced dead at the scene, where it first appeared that he had crashed his motorcycle into a parked car. But investigators discovered car parts at the crash site from a 2001 Corvette.
Tips lead police to an apartment complex across the street and to 28 year old Ryan Mogensen. Investigators say he refused to cooperate with investigators, who obtained a search warrant to enter his garage, where they found the damaged Corvette.
After police found his car, Mogensen admitted that he knew he had hit the motorcyclist. He's charged with leaving the scene of a crash with serious bodily injury or death and is now in the Pinellas County Jail.
