Clearwater, Fla. (970 WFLA) - A man died after jumping off a pontoon boat into the Gulf of Mexico Sunday afternoon. Pinellas County deputies say that Michael Steller, 49, jumped into water only four-feet deep at about 4:36 p.m. but did not come back up until bystanders pulled him unconscious from the water.
Marine unit deputies performed CPR and used a defibrillator on Steller, but he died later at Tampa General Hospital. "Deputies say alcohol was a factor in this incident," according to a news release from the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office.
