Largo, Fla. (970 WFLA) - Pinellas County Sheriff's deputies arrested Angel Martinez in the shooting death of Ricky Garland, 47, Thursday in the parking lot of a Largo motel Thursday. Martinez, 24, faces a second-degree murder charge.
Detectives say that Martinez argued with his girlfriend, Larrisha Williams, as they sat in a car with her two children. During the course of the argument, Martinez shot Garland, who was in the Andrea Cove Motel parking lot on 106th Avenue North. It's not clear how Garland got involved.
Detectives found Martinez at the 22nd Avenue block of 19th Street South in St Petersburg Saturday afternoon and arrested him without incident. They also arrested Williams, saying that she left her two young children alone in the apartment on the night of the murder. Williams was charged on May 25th, 2017 for two counts of felony child neglect.
