Tallahassee, Fla.-(Newsradio 970 WFLA)-The unemployment rate is down here in Florida and in the Tampa Bay area. Governor Rick Scott also says thousands of new jobs have been created.
Scott says Florida's unemployment rate dropped to 4.5 percent in April, the lowest since September of 2007. Florida businesses also created 15,000 private sector jobs in April.
Tampa Bay's unemployment rate was 3.8 percent, down 0.6 percent from a year ago. Scott says Tampa area businesses added almost 32,000 new private sector jobs over the year in April.
