Late Start Time for Two Pasco Schools Extended

In spite of the fact the Starkey Wilderness Preserve wildfire has been contained, it's been smoldering over the past week...just enough, says Linda Cobbe of the Pasco school district, to present an early morning potential hazard on the roadways.

And that means River Ridge Middle and High schools in New Port Richey will begin class at 10:45 a.m. again on Monday instead of the regular 7:30 a.m. start time.  Under the temporary bell schedule for those two schools, the school day ends at 5:10 p.m.

Cobbe says administrators and emergency mangers will talk about the situation again Monday morning to determine if those schools can go back to their regular start times.
