Pasco County Fire Update

New Port Richey, Fla. (970 WFLA)-  The current fire danger is keeping Starkey Park in Pasco County closed today.   All camping is cancelled through Thursday May 11th, due to the Anclote Branch fire.  All biking and hilking trails are also closed in the park till further notice. 

The wildfire is affecting more than 25 hundred acres in western Pasco county and is only about 70 percent contained,  and it could be another rough day for firefighters today, with high winds and low humidity. 

The Salvation Army is accepting donations for items needed by the  firefighters.   Today the Salvation Army will be accepting items at the 7745 Ridge Road Warehouse.   Items needed: water, Gatorade/Powerade, sunblock, chapstick, bug spray, mon perishable individually wrapped packaged snacks.

Pasco County Govt Wildfire Update:

 1. No open flames in any county park and a burn ban remains in Pasco County.No burning of trash, garbage or yard debris.

2. Jay B. Starkey Wilderness Park will be closed today through Thursday, to give fire crews the access they need to fight the Anclote Branch fire.

3. Pasco County is not seeking any food donations but we are looking for the following items: water, gator aid, chap stick, bug repellant non-perishable snacks and  sun block.  The public can make donations via the Salvation Army receiving station in the front entrance of Starkey Park.

5. Suncoast Parkway between SR 54 and SR 52 has reopened

6. Pasco County Emergency Management has determined there is no longer a need for a voluntary evacuation of the Bexley Ranch subdivision; all residents who left can now go back home.

7. If there is smoke in your area, emergency officials recommend closing doors and windows and turning on the air conditioning to recirculate indoor air.
