Largo, Fla. (970 WFLA) - Police say a three-hour standoff with a man holding a woman and her 5-year-old son hostage ended peacefully with his arrest Saturday. John Desormeaux, III, 43, faces kidnapping and aggravated battery charges.
Police say he had taken the woman, whose name police have not released, and her son hostage at 1733 South Jefferson Avenue. She managed to call 911, and escape the home, leaving Desormeaux inside alone. Police tried to reach him by phone, social media and a megaphone to no avail.
The Largo Police Tactical Apprehension and Control Team stormed the home and found Desormeaux in a bedroom, along with a loaded gun. They arrested him without further incident.
