TAMPA (970 WFLA) -- Hillsborough County Commissioners heard from dozens of people about a proposed ordianance to restrict pet stores from selling puppies and kittens raised by breeders, sometimes referred to as "puppy mills."
Mike Lamprea says the ordinance is unfair to pet store owners. "This... sets up traps that we are intended to fall into", Lamprea says "... and then have your business taken away from you by force of government."
The proposed ordinance has a grandfather provision for existing pet stores.
Commissioner Victor Crist seems to support the pet stores' argument. He wants more time to tweak the ordinance to address their concerns.
Commissioners decided to table the ordinance until May 17th.
