Tampa, Fla.-(Newsradio 970 WFLA)-Tampa International Airport is beginning a Zika awareness campaign ahead of the summer travel season, the rainy season and mosquito time.
The airport is joining the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in the campaign to make visitors to Florida aware of the threat of the mosquito-borne virus. Zika outbreaks are happening all over the world, including parts of Florida to which T.I.A. has direct flights.
The campaign includes digital messages and other signage around the airport. The airport is also providing free, travel-sized, EPA-registered samples of insect repellent for arriving international passengers at Airside F.
Tampa International Airport's maintenance staff and other airport workers who are prone to mosquito bites are also getting repellent. Many shops around the airport are also stocking insect repellent.
