Pasco Fire Update

New Port Richey, Fla. (970 WFLA)- Pasco County Fire crews along with Pasco Deputies,  monitored hot spots overnight at two wild fires.

The dry air and strong winds Sunday are blamed for helping spread the flames that began Sunday morning, about an hour apart.

The first fire started at Paws Materials, a mulching facility near S.R. 54 in Odessa, and the embers led to the second fire called the Gladstone fire ,which spread to about 40 acres.   The mulch fire is out,  the Gladstone fire is 90 percent contained.

The Starkey Wilderness Park was evacuated and closed yesterday, but will open at its usual time today.
