Dog Leash Choking Suspect Back Behind Bars

PALM HARBOR, Fla. (970 WFLA) - A man accused of beating and choking an elderly woman with a dog leash has been caught by Pinellas County deputies.

Emanuel Qosaj, 20, is charged with attacking the 75-year old while she was walking her dogs on the 700 block of 1st Court in April.

Qosaj was taken into custody after a struggle, but walked out of jail on bond despite facing felony charges including attempted murder.

The victim is afraid to return to her home.

“I still have flashbacks of that chain around my neck.  I have flashbacks of his face, of being punched, him saying I’m going to kill you,” she told News Channel 8.

For now, Qosaj will remain behind bars after he was picked up on an additional warrant.

His defense attorney claimed Qosaj may suffer from schizophrenia.
