The American Meteor Society website reports 47 sightings of a fireball that seemed to fly over Florida, from the Fort Myers area to near Okeechobee, around 11:55 Tuesday evening. Sightings reported from Lake County to Key West.
Social media is abuzz after several people across the state reported seeing something streak across the sky over Florida and break up, late Tuesday night.
An observer reporting for CBS4 news in the Fort Lauderdale area says he saw it around 11:52 p.m.
The Lyrid meteor shower peaked last week and last night was its last night of visibility.
