Undercover Drug Bust In Sarasota

Sarasota, Fla. (970 WFLA)- A 45 year old Bradenton man,  who recently moved to Bradenton from Sarasota,  is now facing numerous drug charges after Sarasota Police  say he returned to Sarasota to sell drugs.

Over a period of several weeks,  Sarasota undercover police officers watched as Calvin Butler sold narcotics from his old Sarasota address in the 1900 block of 5th Street.

On April 18th,  officers arrested him as he was sitting in his car.  Inside the vehicle, police found baggies of powder and rock cocaine, various prescription pills, including Hydromorphine, and three broken pieces of Buprenorphine, 41 syringes and over $10,000 dollars in cash.

Sergeant Rob Armstrong, from the  Criminal Investigations Division, said   “Butler had a large customer base in the City of Sarasota and was a supplier to many homeless individuals in and around the downtown areas,” “He provided syringes to his buyers and users during sales.  This is a major arrest in the continuing effort to keep the City of Sarasota safe.”
