SHIRLEY, MA (970 WFLA) -- Former Florida Gator and New England Patriots football player Aaron Hernandez, serving a life sentence for one murder but acquitted of two others, has been found dead in his prison cell in an apparent suicide.
Prison officials at the Souza Baranowski Correctional Center say guards found Hernandez handing from a bed sheet, attached to his cell window, around 3 this morning. They took him to a hospital in Leominster where he was pronounced dead an hour later.
Hernandez was just found not guilty in a double murder case, but that only meant he'd go back to a life sentence for the death of his friend Odin Lloyd, the crime that ended his pro football career and his freedom.
