ALTURAS, Fla. (970 WFLA) - Polk County Fire-Rescue said it's a good example of why you shouldn't be lighting any fires during the regional burn ban.
Firefighters showed up to Marty Road in Alturas after a trash fire got out of control.
The blaze destroyed Westley Blue's trailer home, along with two sheds.
Blue said he forgot about the burn ban, and while the trash was on fire, it accidentally ignited the dry grass on his property.
Blue could face a $500 fine and 60 days in jail if convicted of violating the burn ban.
