Tampa, Fla. (970 WFLA)-Detectives from the Hillsborough Sheriff's Office have charged the mother of the 4 year old child, who accidentally shot himself in the chest, with aggravated child neglect resulting in serious injury.
24 year old Delicia Forte has since bonded out of the Orient Road Jail. The Hillsborough Sheriff's Office say her children have been placed in foster care.
Her boyfriend 26 year old Akia Thomas is in jail facing numerous charges including possession of a weapon by a convicted felon and unsafe storage of a firearm. Detectives tell us in January the 4 year old boy found the loaded Taurus .380 underneath a dresser. Detectives also found inside the home a white powder that later tested positive for cocaine.
