Lakeland, Fla-(Newsradio 970 WFLA)-Polk County deputies have arrested a man for the DUI manslaughter death of his father. Deputies say they had to arrest 33 year-old Ronnie Rice, Junior, in jail.
Rice had been arrested for DUI and leaving the scene of a crash involving bodily injury back in January. It was the same Lakeland crash that injured his father, Ronald Rice, Sr.
The elder Rice was seriously injured in that crash and received broken bones to include a fractured pelvis. Rice, Sr., has just died. The death resulted in the new charges against the man's son.
Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd says "Ronnie Rice, Jr., killed his father while driving impaired. The next time you get behind the wheel of a car, think about how your actions can forever change not just one person's life, but an entire family."
