Operation March Sadness

Bartow, Fla. (970 WFLA)-Polk County Sheriff's Department has wrapped up an under cover investigation Sheriff Grady Judd calls "Operation March Sadness". 

It lasted six days and focused on those who advertise prostitution services in online ads and worked on identifying victims of human trafficking.

Polk County Undercover Detectives arrested  38 prostitutes, 51 johns, plus 14 other people were arrested on related charges such as making money off prostitutes.   1 person  was arrested for traveling to meet a minor, 23 of those arrested  told detectives they were married. 

Detectives seized 2 firearms, and drugs including marijuana, oxycodone, heroin, and cocaine.

According to the sheriff, many of the prostitutes traveled to Florida, and told detectives they travel across the country, having sex for money.  The 104 suspects,  ranged in age from 20 - 63 years old.
