Tampa Paramedic Accidently Shoots Fiancee

Pasadena, Fla. (970 WFLA) - A Tampa paramedic treated his fiancee for a gunshot wound that he caused, Pinellas County deputies say. Logan McClain, 29, rode as a passenger in Mareth Reum's Toyota Tacoma pickup truck when the shooting happened at about 10:30 Saturday night in the intersection of Pasadena Avenue South and Park Street in Pasadena.

As the couple neared their home, a Pinellas County Sheriff's Office news release says, McClain retrieved his gun from the center console when it fired and struck Reum, 28, in the thigh. McClain treated Reum and loaded her into the truck's back seat. Someone saw them and called for help.

St. Petersburg Police stopped the truck as McClain drove to the hospital. An ambulance took Reum to Bayfront Hospital. Her injures are not life-threatening. Detectives say that McClain has a valid concealed carry license and that foul play does not appear to be a factor.
