Bartow, Fla. (970 WFLA) - A Polk County jail inmate died after falling ill Thursday.
The Polk County Sheriff's Office says that Keith Newberry, 59, vomited and showed symptoms of a stomach virus before he suddenly went into cardiac arrest at the jail infirmary.
Jail medical personnel tried to revive Newberry, but could not. He died after he was taken to a hospital in Sebring. Newberry had a history of drug arrests, and was in jail for failing to appear in court.
