VIDEO: Dog Dies Aboard Burning Boat

CLEARWATER, Fla. (970 WFLA) – A boat broke away from a dock on the Intracoastal Waterway in Clearwater after catching fire Thursday afternoon.

A dog on board the boat is believed to have died.

The 35-foot boat was docked at Barefoot Bay Resort and Marina located at 401 East Shore Drive.

Firefighters were able to put out the flames, but not before creating a scene of black smoke in front of hotels and condos near the shoreline.

WFLA-TV reports that the boat was owned by William Campbell.  A man named Oscar Lozada lived on board.

Dunedin Fire Rescue, the U.S. Coast Guard and the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office also responded to the fire.
