Tampa, Fla. (970 WFLA)-A Hillsbrough County Detention Deputy is recovering after being attacked by an inmate at the Falkenburg Jail.
The inmate, 22 old Kiondre Zachary walked up behind Deputy Hernandez and wrapped a towel around his neck, trying to strangle him. The deputy managed to escape and with the help of other inmates, was able to subdue Zachary until help could arrive.
Deputy Hernandez suffered a twisted ankle, a bruised knee and several abrasions to his neck.
Zachery was in jail on burglary charges, he's now facing an additional charge of aggravated battery on a law enforcement officer.
