Judge in Movie Theater Shooting Case Visits Theater

Pasco-Pinellas circuit judge Susan Barthle sat in seat number 9, in the bottom section of theater number 10 at the Cobb Grove 16 Theaters in Wesley Chapel.

She watched the same previews that were playing on January 13th, 2014 right before the start of the movie Lone Survivor.  She queried attorneys and observed her surroundings--the proximity of her seat to others.

That's the same seat the Curtis Reeves was sitting in that day when he got into an argument with Chad Oulson over texting and fatally shot Oulson.

Reeves claims the shooting was in self defense and wants second degree murder charges dropped, invoking the state's Stand Your Ground law.  If the judge agrees with that argument at the conclusion of this two-week hearing,  charges will be dropped.

The hearing will continue into next week when Reeves is likely to take the stand.
