Widow of Movie Theater Shooting Victim Testifies in Stand Your Ground Hearing

A Pasco circuit judge will visit the Cobb Theater in Wesley Chapel Friday where Chad Oulson was shot and killed three years ago.

The judge will sit in the very seat where Curtis Reeves was sitting on January 13th, 2014 and will watch movie previews as was the case when Oulson was shot that day.  The theater trip should take about an hour.

During the latest round of testimony in this Stand Your Ground hearing, Oulson's widow Nicole testified that Reeves was "very rude" and "demanding" when he told Oulson to put away his cell phone.  She recalls her husband standing up to face Reeves.

A moment later, Oulson was shot with a bullet that grazed Nicole's hand.  Reeves may take the stand, himself at some point before this hearing wraps up next week.

Defense attorneys argue that Reeve's action falls within the state's Stand Your Ground statute because he felt threatened.  They're hoping the judge will agree and drop the second degree murder charges filed against the 74-year-old retired Tampa police captain.
