TAMPA (970 WFLA) -- Supporters of President Donald Trump are planning their own response to the wave of protests against his administration. They're staging a series of pro-Trump rallies across the country, February 27th and March 4th.
They're being coordinated by a group called Main Street Patriots. Their website says the rallies will be "Positive (and) patriotic" and open to anyone who supports an America First agenda.
Gun store owner Andy Hallinan is sponsoring a rally February 27th in Inverness. The group plans to meet at the old Citrus County Courthouse and hold a short march through downtown. Hallinan says they want protesters to avoid signs that are hateful or divisive.
Hallinan says they want to show support for an agenda of lowering taxes, building a border wall, and backing law enforcement.
This follows several demonstrations that popped up around the country opposing President Trump, particularly on the issue of his temporary travel ban. Hallinan believes those demonstrations show signs of being orchestrated by people who were waiting for the right moment to attack the Trump agenda.
Other rallies in Florida are planned in Orlando, Sarasota, St. Augustine and Stuart. For a list of times and locations, follow this link:
