Man In Flamingo Death Ruled Not Competent

Tampa, Fla.-(Newsradio 970 WFLA)-A judge has ruled that the man accused of killing a Busch Gardens flamingo can't go on trial because he's mentally ill.

Hillsborough Circuit Judge Thomas Barber issued his ruling after doctors concluded that 45 year-old Thomas Corrao was not competent to stand trial for the death of Pinky the flamingo.  The conclusion came after two doctors examined the Orlando man.

Corrao is charged with aggravated animal cruelty in the death of the long-time favorite among park visitors.

The judge wants to hold another hearing at a later date to discuss the findings of the doctors. Barber also wants to hear about treatment options for Carrao.
