Intruder Shot By Woman

St. Petersburg, Fla.-(Newsradio 970 WFLA)-Police say a woman stopped a man from breaking into her house by shooting him.

Officers say 66 year-old Mary Starling Shirley spotted a man trying to get into her home on 24th Avenue, South, through a side window. It was a man she didn't know.

Shirley warned the man that she had a gun. When the man kept coming, she shot him with a large caliber revolver. 

Police say 48 year-old Timothy Scott Tugman is hospitalized, but is expected to survive. Tugman is being charged with Occupied Residential Burglary.
