(Tampa, Fla. - 970 WFLA) A 12 week undercover sting in Hillsborough County ends with 51 arrests and the seizure of 66 illegal guns.
Multiple agencies were involved with the investigation, including the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office, the Office of Hillsborough County State Attorney, the Federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) and the United States Attorney’s Office for the Middle District of Florida.
Undercover officers told drug dealers they were convicted felons looking to buy guns. Hillsborough Major Frank Losat says it was almost too easy.
He says after awhile, drug dealers started contacting the undercover officers, offering guns for sale.
