Maderia Beach, Fla. (970 WFLA)-A 25 year old Treasure Island woman is in jail charged with DUI manslaughter.
The Pinellas Sheriff's Office reports Ashley Konfort was driving under the influence, when she hit and killed a 73 year old, North Port woman Wednesday night on Gulf Boulevard in Madeira Beach. Nancy Durham Jones and her husband were using the crosswalk and had initated the flashing yellow lights, before starting to cross the road when she was hit by Konfort's Hyundai.
Investigators say Konfort was showing signs of impairment during questioning and admitted to taking prescription drugs, marijuana was also found inside her car.
