(Tampa, Fla. - 970 WFLA) The Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office says a 4 year old boy was shot in the chest this morning at the Key Vista Apartments near USF. He was rushed to St. Joseph's Hospital where he underwent surgery, and is reported in stable condition.
Investigators say he was home with his mother's boyfriend, Akia Thomas, at the time of the shooting. Thomas is in custody, charged with being a felon in possession of a firearm.
The investigation into who shot the boy and what led to the shooting continues.
