New Port Richey, Fla. (970 WFLA)- At least eighteen people are dead from the weekend storms that swept across the south. Officials in southern Georgia say torrential storms and possible tornado strikes left 14 dead sunday near Adel. Severe damage in at least a half-dozen counties prompted Georgia Governor Nathan Deal to declare states of emergency. Four other deaths near Hattiesburg, Mississippi were also blamed on the weather.
Closer to the Tampa Bay area, in Pasco County the Director of the Pasco County Emergency Management Office, Kevin Guthrie, says a line of severe weather moved through Pasco County last night.
