New charges for a former Sarasota sheriff's deputy accused of trying to defraud, and then trying to kill, an elderly woman.
The Sarasota sheriff's office says a woman claims Frankie Bybee had a sexual relationship for several years, and paid him $100,000 for sex acts. Deputies say the owner of an online business in Kentucky claims Bybee used the woman's name and Paypal account to charge more than a thousand dollars for a car rotisserie and brackets. Deputies say Bybee also made at least 12 other unauthorized withdrawals from her account. They have surveillance video to back up their claims.
Meantime, a judge has lowered Bybee's bond on the original charges, from $1,000,000 to $365,000.
Bybee is already accused of victimizing another person... taking a 79-year-old woman's dog while she was in the hospital, pocketing money meant for its care, and claiming he placed the dog in another home. He's also accused of writing checks on her account, and trying to poison her with pills and carbon monoxide. The victim survived and Bybee remains charged with attempted murder, battery, grand theft and exploitation of the elderly.
