Tampa, FLA (970 WFLA)-- The excitement offered by the rides on the Midway of the Florida State Fair are matched only by the thrills served up by the food vendors throughout the Fairgrounds!
This year, adventurous foodies can feast on a White Cheddar and Bacon Pretzel Dog, Cheesy Fried Enchilada Funnel Cake, Steak Sundae, the Florida Firecracker - a burger stuffed with jalapeno poppers and bacon, slow roasted and served on an 8” hoagie roll with cheese, lettuce, tomato and pickles - and more!
And Fair fans once again will have a say in the featured fare by voting online starting Monday!
Because of the overwhelming enthusiasm for all manner of culinary concoctions at the Fair, the Annual People’s Choice Burger Awards have been expanded to include all categories of food, including sweet treats like Kettle Corn Ice Cream and the Nutella Oreo Funnel Cake. Check out all the offerings - with enticing photos and mouth-watering descriptions - at FloridaStateFair.com starting January 23 and choose the option that most tickles your taste buds by January 30.
The creation that garners the most votes will be crowned the Fare Favorite. The winner will be announced on Tuesday, January 31.
This year’s Fair also will boast the debut of the Alaskan Soda Jerk, a one-of-a-kind soft drink concession stand serving up Root Beer Floats and popular “boardwalk” delights like cherry lime aides, as well as shakes and malts. Making its inaugural continental U.S. Fair appearance, Alaskan Soda Jerk invites fair goers to step back in time with ‘50s music, a diner style booth and costumes complete with aprons, paper hats and bow ties. “Soda Jerks” will entertain customers with an exciting presentation sure to draw a crowd.
The Florida State Fair runs Feb. 9-20. Discounted admission and ride armband tickets are available online at FloridaStateFair.com and all Florida Walgreens through February 8. Tickets also can be purchased online or at the gate during the 12 days of the Fair.
