A New Port Richey woman was arrested after her 9-year-old child crashed her car in a parking lot.
The mother, Amy Lee Kidd, said she was trying to teach her son how to drive when the accident occurred.
The crash was caught on surveillance video which showed the woman standing outside the car as she instructed the child to accelerate. When he hit the gas, the car backed up at a high rate of speed and the woman was dragged to the ground as she tried to hold on to the vehicle. The car smashed into a wall and barely missed hitting two other vehicles.
The mother was charged with child neglect and permitting an unauthorized person to drive.
