VIDEO: Florida Cops Save Burglar Who Was Shot By Homeowner

Body cam footage shows Haines City police officers saving an alleged burglar's life after he was shot by a homeowner who discovered him inside their home.

According to WFLA-TV, the homeowner walked into his kitchen on Friday morning and saw two burglars. He shot one of them before they both fled.

The homeowner left his house and called 9-1-1.

When police caught up with the alleged burglar in a nearby park, he was on the ground, bleeding and moaning in pain.

Haines City Police Chief Gregory Goreck said the officers "immediately changed focus, changed gears, and went from a search to locate and apprehend, to saving an individual's life."

“I got a baby on the way man,” the suspect said.

“You’re going to be alive and well,” one of the officers told him.

The officers applied pressure to his injured leg and used a makeshift tourniquet to stop the bleeding. They also assured him that they wouldn't let him die.

The man was airlifted to a local hospital where he is in serious condition. He is facing burglary of a residence and grand theft charges.

The homeowner is not expected to face any charges related to the incident.
