A 102-year old Delray Beach resident is being honored with the Congressional Gold Medal.

Congresswoman Lois Frankel held an event today to celebrate the signing of her bill to give Ben Ferencz that honor.

"And then there were those who brought the Nazis to justice to the International Military Tribunal. And this was known as the Nuremberg Trials."

Ferencz is the last living prosecutor from those trials and he put away more than 20 Nazi officials.

Frankel, a West Palm Beach Democrat, says her family was able to escape Poland just before the rise of Hitler.

"Millions of Jews and other precious human beings were not so fortunate to escape the gas chambers, the shootings, the starving, the torture at the hands of the Nazis."

A representative from the Anti-Defamation League was on hand. The organization claims antisemitic incidents are on the rise in Florida.

In fact, a student club fair at FAU in Boca Raton on Wednesday was interrupted by a group of men with a banner that referenced antisemitic messages.

Ferencz was not at Frankel's event. The lawmaker says the former prosecutor who turns 103 in March is bedridden. His son, Don Ferencz, was there in his place.

Also at the event on Thursday was Holocaust Survivor Sam Ron and representatives from other Jewish advocacy groups.
