Lawmakers are working to pass a massive spending package ahead of a Friday deadline to keep the government funded.

While Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell says the $1.7 trillion so-called omnibus bill will boost defense spending while cutting non-defense spending, not all Republicans plan to vote for it.

Florida Senator Rick Scott will be a "no" vote.

"It's three times the size of the Bible. Nobody's read it. We have no idea what's in it. Could you read the Bible three times between now and when we're supposed to pass this bill, which is in theory Friday although they want to pass it today."

Scott says there are 7,500 earmarks in the bill, which he believes must contain "wasteful spending."

"Border Patrol money in there...it cannot be used for Border security. But you can use it to transport illegals that come across the Border, migrants. But you can put any money to secure the Border."

Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer says the package is overflowing with "good news" for troops, Ukraine and American jobs.

Scott would prefer to wait until Republicans take control of the House to vote on a long-term government funding bill.

Friday is the deadline before a potential partial shutdown.
