Myakka City, FL - A man’s been seriously injured after he was bit by an alligator at a Southwest Florida fish camp.

The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission says the 43-year-old man was bit by the alligator near Lake Manatee Fish Camp in Myakka City around 5:30 p.m. Wednesday.

The FWC, along with the Manatee County Sheriff's Office and Manatee County EMS, responded to the scene and rushed the man to the hospital with serious injuries to his arm.

Following Wednesday’s attack, a nuisance alligator trapper was called to the area.

A spokesperson for FWC says trapping efforts continue but no alligators have been removed.

FWC is continuing to investigate Wednesday’s attack, but initial information indicates the man was in the water and swimming at the time of the bite.

The man was flown to Sarasota Memorial Hospital where he remains in stable condition.
