Cape Coral, FL - A man's been caught on surveillance video stealing from the tip jar of a South Florida restaurant.
According to workers at the Five Guys on Northeast Pine Island Road in Cape Coral, a customer was captured on video reaching into the tip jar and stealing tips from employees on April 28th.
An employee who spoke with NBC 2 News says corporate told him not to report the incident to police because it wasn’t a large sum of money.
But the employee says he's upset because that money “it’s our gas, it’s our living, it’s everything. Our checks barely make enough money as it is, so our tip money is just to get us everything else we need."
April's theft isn't the first time money has been stolen from the Five Guys tip jar.
In April of 2020, a couple was caught at the same restaurant reaching into the tip jar and walking away with money.
Police say they won’t do anything about the incident unless a report is made with the department.
