Sheriff's deputy fired after trespassing on minor league baseball field

North Port, FL - A Florida sheriff’s deputy has been fired after she hopped a fence and ran onto the field of a minor league baseball stadium.

According to North Port police, Nicole Kovalsky, a former deputy with the Charlotte County Sheriff's Office, was arrested after she hopped a fence at CoolToday park in North Port and ran onto the field.

Responding officers detained Kovalsky, who told authorities she was a deputy with the Charlotte County Sheriff's Office.

Paramedics evaluated Kovalsky but she did not meet the criteria for a Baker Act, so authorities charged her with trespassing.

Officials with the Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office says they’d been trying to get Kovalsky to come in for a ‘fit for duty evaluation’ weeks before her arrest because of an incident that occurred during training, but Kovalsky refused, disappeared and was unable to be reached.

Kovalsky was fired from CCSO following her arrest.
