TAMPA -- As part of her "Thin Line Tribute" series, Florida Attorney General Ashley Moody has honored the Florida Highway Patrol troop based in Tampa, for stopping crimes she says are caused by "crimes directly related to Joe Biden's border crisis."
Moody visited Troop C headquarters Monday to honor troopers there, saying they've investigated 14 human smuggling cases along Interstate 75 since October. (Troop C has responsibility for I-75 from Wildwood to just south of Sun City Center.) This FHP troop has also seized more than $700 thousand in heroin from two Mexican citizens in the country illegally.
Among the human smuggling cases, Moody says, last March Troop C discovered 20 adults crammed into a white van with Texas plates during a traffic stop. Troopers say the driver had picked up the passengers around Texas, four of whom had been previously deported. They were destined for Orlando when troopers stopped them in Hernando County.
Moody said at the event, “Troop C has stepped up to do the job President Biden refuses to do—stop the influx of deadly drugs and criminals sneaking across the border. To those in Washington wishing to honor law enforcement during National Police Week—the best way to help law enforcement is to enforce the law.”
Moody calls Troop C "the last line of defense on the border crisis."
