After her split from Amazon founder and CEO Jeff Bezos, MacKenzie Scott said she would donate "until the safe is empty."
She continued that promise this week, with a $436 million donation to Habitat for Humanity. Of that, $7.5 million is coming to Hillsborough County. The organization describes the gift as "transformational."
The organization has said it will work out a plan for utilizing the funds in the coming weeks.
A recent report from the New York Times estimates Scott's portion of the divorce settlement from Bezos netted her about $36 billion from 4% of Amazon's shares.
