Things People Are Boycotting That Aren't Really Russian

As a result of Vladimir Putin’s Ukrainian invasion, people worldwide have been boycotting Russian products. The problem is that not all of these items are a product of Russia.

A few examples:

  • Vodka – Less than 1% of the vodka consumed in America is made in Russia. Absolut vodka is made in Sweden. Svedka is also made in Sweden. The authentic Russian vodka brands are Russian Standard, Beluga Noble Russian Vodka, Beluga Noble Russian Gold Vodka and Zyr Russian Vodka.
  • Russian Dressing - It may be in the name, but the popular sandwich spread was made by a grocer who is not from Russia at all.
  • Nesting Dolls - Good news! You can keep your nesting dolls. The popular toys found all around the world are a product of Japan.
  • Cocktails – The White and Black Russian cocktails have origins in Belgium. Vodka is the main ingredient, but as we've mentioned, you're okay with most vodkas!
