(New York, NY) -- Today is the 111th International Women's Day in countries around the world.

This year's theme, selected by the United Nations, is #BreaktheBias which encourages people to call out gender bias, discrimination, and stereotyping in the continuing drive for women's equality. Despite advances, surveys show that most household chores still fall to women who say they have just 17 minutes a day to themselves.

I-W-D colors are green for hope, white for purity, and purple for justice and dignity. Due to the continuing COVID pandemic, most activities celebrating International Women's Day this year are virtual, including seminars, luncheons, and bike rides.

Our Florida News Network would like to thank and celebrate the women who bring news and talk to the state of Florida every day.
